A peaceful, primary bedroom
Sherwin Willam’s Stardew, a moody blue-grey color helped set the stage for this tranquil room. We then added natural wood tones and elements of rattan, along with landscape art, including fields of bluebonnets and a hand-crafted Tree of Life wall-hanging.
Design Notes
-
Functional needs
-Placement of king-sized bed
-Dressers for clothing storage
-Quiet spot for reading
-
Challenges
-2 windows looked directly into neighbors yard, needing a way to let in light while maintaining privacy
-Original off white walls felt somewhat cold and sterile
-
Solutions
-Added layer of floral sheer curtains to the black out drapes- which gave just the right amount of light coverage and privacy (both sets were a Target find)
-Darker wall color and large area rug created sense of coziness
-
Favorite Design Elements
-Soothing blue/grey wall color (Sherwin Williams Stardew) and overall monochromatic color palette
-Vintage armchair, reupholstered in a floral linen fabric
- Wall tapestry made by artisans in India and sold via the fair trade nonprofit Ten Thousand Villages
