My design muses…

Henrietta was my beloved cat who was a constant companion for nearly 20 years. Henrietta knew how to embrace a life well-lived at home, and always sought out the coziest places, surrounded by her favorite people. Cats (and dogs too!) are indeed “connoisseurs of comfort” and Henrietta continues to serve as an inspiration as I help my clients create comfortable, nurturing, feel-good homes.

And then there is Mr. Rogers. Yes, that Mr. Rogers of the beloved PBS show, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, whose TV home included an orange plaid couch and an astro-turf front lawn. Perhaps an unlikely muse for a design firm, but a muse nevertheless.

Mr. Roger’s home was a refuge of sorts for children, helping them feel safe, cared for and valued as unique individuals. Mr. Rogers was the quintessential “good neighbor” and recognized that a beautiful home is one in which love is at the center.

I’m grateful and inspired by Mr. Rogers, Henrietta, and the countless neighbors, friends, pets, and families across the generations (here's looking at you Mom and Dad!) for creating homes that nurture us and give us a safe place to land.
