Hall Bathroom

We embraced the retro 1960s tile to update, rather than renovate, this kids/guest bathroom. Colorful patterns, art and cabana striped walls helped infuse this space with personality.

Design Notes

  • Functional Needs

-Primarily a kid’s bathroom, but also needed to be available to guests

  • Challenges

    -No budget to renovate

-Blue floor tile, wall tile, and countertop tile made the bathroom feel rather cold and one note

  • Solutions

-Colorful cabana stripes were painted on the walls to add a bit of vibrancy to the space and to draw the eye up (and away from all that blue tile!)

-A large, washable cotton rug helped to warm up the space.

  • Favorite Design Elements

-Gallery wall including several favorite Austin swimming spots by local artist Eleanor Baker

-Playful mix of colors and patterns throughout the space

-Hand-made, floral block print roman shade
